Masasaku Deba KnifeThe Deba is a traditional Japanese knife designed for breaking down fish, featuring a thick blade suitable for working around bones. The dark portion of the blade has been treated with a black oxide finish. This finish forms a stable oxidized layer on the iron surface, helping to suppress red rust while giving the blade a calm black appearance. The contrast between the rugged black blade surface and the polished silver edge creates a strong presence as a tool. With continued use, the appearance of the blackened area will gradually change, which is one of the unique charms of carbon steel knives. Since the black finish was not applied to a brand-new blade, the color may appear uneven in places, which can also be appreciated as part of its character. The white water buffalo handle is also very attractive.
This knife is single-edged and made of carbon steel, offering excellent sharpness.
Professionally sharpened and ready to use. Sharpening service is included in the price. Please handle with care when unpacking.

Entertaining, informative, without being overwhelming.
Format: Hardcover, Format: Hardcover
Got it for, basically, half-off standard retail. At that price, it's a fine addition to the WWII library. Some interesting information displayed in a mostly entertaining way. I get that battle maps are always a challenge (maps are static - battles are dynamic). This does a fairly adequate job - better than most battle maps - though far from groundbreaking. item arrived well packed - no issues with binding (as some others seem to report). Though the book overall is a bit "warped" and several of the maps are mis-printed or mis-cut as to make them unusable. 3 bad out of 300 - not horrible - again at the price I paid. If the subject interest you - I'd suggest getting - but not a "must have".

For the history buff or student - this is worth the purchase
Format: Hardcover
Detailed, individual maps and history on the battles of World War II. It isn’t too overwhelming for the student and is an enjoyable read for the history buff. Hardback so it will ensure lots of reading and reviews, durable pages too (not those thin, flimsy, easily tearable pages!) - this book will likely stand the test of our schooling years and beyond.
