Told through the story of training for a solo Channel swim, Swimmingly takes you on a journey across the world from Bournemouth Beach to San Francisco Bay. Working with elite coaches and interviewing the great and the good of swimming, he uncovers the massive sense of community at the heart of this time-honoured pastime. He meets Olympic champions and Channel legends – including Diana Nyad, who in her 60s became the first person to swim between Cuba and Florida; Lewis Pugh, the UN Patron of the Oceans and Lynne Cox, a woman who went for a swim and saved the world.

It's about the everyday swims, too – the tips shared and friendships forged over coffee and cake after a morning dip with the Teddington Bluetits or the sea swimmers of Whitstable. Really Nice Hydrating Toner Pads

At 52, post-menopausal, with dry and increasingly sensitive skin, I’m very selective about toner pads. Many of them either feel too thin and ineffective or too active and irritating. These landed right in the middle in the best possible way — gentle, hydrating, and very easy to use. The first thing I noticed is how well these pads are saturated. They’re not dripping, but they hold enough product to comfortably treat the entire face. The gel texture also makes them feel a little more substantial than typical toner pads, which I really like. They feel cooling and comfortable on the skin. What I notice most after using them is how hydrated and slightly plumped my skin looks. This isn’t dramatic or instant, but it’s the kind of improvement that makes your skin look healthier and more comfortable. My skin feels smoother and softer, and it layers very well with the rest of my routine. They also feel very lightweight. There’s no sticky or heavy residue, and once the essence absorbs, my skin just feels hydrated and calm. I can easily follow with serums and moisturizer without any pilling. I also appreciate that these pads are gentle and very skin-compatible. I’ve had no irritation, redness, or sensitivity, even on days when my skin is feeling more reactive. At this stage, that matters more than aggressive results. In terms of moisture, these do a really nice job. My skin feels comfortable after using them, and they work well as a prep step before the rest of my routine. On some mornings, they even give enough hydration that I don’t feel rushed to apply moisturizer immediately. Fragrance is also worth mentioning. The scent is very light and subtle, and it doesn’t linger. I’m careful about fragrance, and these didn’t cause any sensitivity or irritation. Another thing I like is how easy they are to use. They’re quick, convenient, and a nice step when I want hydration without adding another liquid toner. Overall, these feel like a supportive, hydrating step that helps improve overall skin quality over time. They’re gentle, comfortable, and easy to incorporate into a daily routine.
