A stunning new edition of Virginia Woolf's engulfing portrait of one day in a woman's life, featuring a new foreword by Jenny Offill, the New York Times bestselling author of Weather and Dept. of Speculation A Penguin Classics Deluxe Edition, with flaps and deckle-edged paper "Mrs. Dalloway said she would buy the flowers herself." It's one of the most famous opening lines in literature, that of Virginia Woolf's beloved masterpiece of time, memory, and the city. In the wake of World War I and the 1918 flu pandemic, Clarissa Dalloway, elegant and vivacious, is preparing for a party and remembering those she once loved. In another part of London, Septimus Smith is suffering from shell-shock and on the brink of madness. Their days interweave and their lives converge as the party reaches its glittering climax. In a novel in which she perfects the interior monologue and recapitulates the life cycle in the hours of the day, from first light to the dark of night, Woolf achieves an uncanny simulacrum of consciousness, bringing past, present, and future together, and recording, impression by impression, minute by minute, the feel of life itself. This edition is collated from all known proofs, manuscripts, and impressions to reflect the author's intentions, and includes a catalog of emendations, an illuminating introduction and endnotes by the distinguished feminist critic Elaine Showalter, and a map of Mrs. Dalloway's London. For more than seventy-five years, Penguin has been the leading publisher of classic literature in the English-speaking world. With more than 2,000 titles, Penguin Classics represents a global bookshelf of the best works throughout history and across genres and disciplines. Readers trust the series to provide authoritative texts enhanced by introductions and notes by distinguished scholars and contemporary authors, as well as up-to-date translations by award-winning translators.Author: Virginia Woolf

About the Author
Virginia Woolf (1882-1941), one of the great twentieth-century authors, was at the center of the Bloomsbury Group and is a major figure in the history of literary feminism and modernism. She published her first novel, The Voyage Out, in 1915, and between 1925 and 1931 produced what are now regarded as her finest masterpieces, including Mrs. Dalloway (1925), To the Lighthouse (1927), and The Waves (1931). She also maintained an astonishing output of literary criticism, short fiction, journalism, and biography, including the playfully subversive Orlando (1928) and the passionate feminist essay A Room of One's Own (1929). Jenny Offill (foreword) is the author of the New York Times bestselling novel Weather; the nationally bestselling novel Dept. of Speculation, which was one of The New York Times Book Review's Ten Best Books of 2014; and the novel Last Things, which was a New York Times Notable Book and a finalist for the Los Angeles Times Book Prize for First Fiction. She lives in upstate New York and teaches at Bard College and in the low residency program at Queens University of Charlotte. Elaine Showalter (introduction, notes) is Professor of English, Emerita, at Princeton University, and the author of many works of feminist literary criticism. Stella McNichol (editor) was the author of several critical studies on Virginia Woolf.

Stylish and Functional, But with a Minor Quirk
Color: Brown Pu 239
I really love this PU leather backpack purse! It’s a perfect mix of style and practicality, but there’s one small design issue that keeps it from being perfect.
**Pros:**
- **Stylish Design:** The leather finish looks chic and goes well with any outfit. It’s versatile enough for casual outings or work.
- **Spacious and Organized:** The compartments are thoughtfully designed, with plenty of space for all my essentials without feeling bulky.
- **Comfortable to Wear:** The adjustable straps make it easy to carry as a backpack, and the weight distribution is great.
- **Durable Material:** The PU leather feels high-quality and holds up well to daily use.
**Cons:**
- **Top Handles Issue:** The top handles stand straight up when I wear it as a backpack, which can look a little awkward and get in the way. It’s not a dealbreaker, but I wish they could lay flat.
Overall, this backpack purse is a fantastic buy, especially for the price. If the top handle design doesn’t bother you, it’s an excellent addition to your wardrobe. Stylish, functional, and durable!

Stylish laptop backpack
Color: Black239pu
Chic backpack that holds a suprising amount of stuff. I needed a nice looking backpack for my laptop (Macbook Air 13") and accessories. It's sleek looking for work conferences and the top handles allow you to hold like a purse. I know some reviewers don't like the look, but for me, I like this feature. I have the black one and it has a nice quilted leather look. The straps have good padding and I was comfortable traveling all day. Even after walking several blocks in the rain there was no damage and everything inside stayed dry. The zipper and hardware are a good quality.

Perfect lightweight computer bag!
Color: Khaki239
Awesome lightweight bag. Very cute. Seems durable and well-made at a very good price. Has a ton of well placed pockets that keep me organized. I purchased this as a replacement for a much heavier, computer bag and this absolutely does the trick. It looked a little small when I received it, but it holds everything that I need and more. I have a 15.6 inch laptop. I highly recommend.
